Happy happy birthday to Esther, a big four year old now! She has had a pretty great month. Settling further into pre-school, making some more friends - Ella, Elena-Grace and Olivia, and has drawn some pictures for us and Judith. She described her family in a painting as Mummy and Daddy and Judith, and Judith is crying because she cries all the time (lol). We had a family outing to the Canberra Show which was very successful - Esther had a pony ride and even patted the pony, we watched cow judging and sheep judging, then stopped to watch the cowboys (wood choppers) do their thing. Then it was a wander down to climb on the fire engine, watch some fast rally cars and meet up with some friends. Finished the day off with a massive novelty drink (mummy made them put cordial in it rather than slushee!). But all of this was merely pre-cursor to the big event this year, Esther's fourth birthday! On her actual birthday Jules was able to stay home too and we were looking forward to a nice outing - except home girl just wanted to stay home and ride her new bike. So we did. She asked for a pirate party this year - six friends came and we had pirate dress ups, making pirate flags, walk the plank and cannonballs and a treasure hunt (she continues to lug the treasure box around with her two days later).
